Challenge
Harassment, intimidation and unwanted behaviour often go unreported, leaving authorities without a clear picture of where people feel unsafe. Gloucestershire's Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and its partners were launching Flare, an anonymous reporting app designed to change that. The challenge was to create a recognisable, approachable brand and an intuitive user experience that would make sharing difficult experiences feel straightforward, while giving the new service a strong identity for its public launch.
Solution
We created Flare's brand identity and designed the user experience across the app, making clarity, accessibility and ease of use central to the approach. Working alongside the technical development team, we helped translate a sensitive reporting process into a simple, coherent digital experience. We also developed the campaign identity and supporting assets for police websites and social channels, bringing the app and its public-facing communications together. Within three months of launch, Flare had been downloaded nearly 4,000 times.
We're finding out about incidents that never before would have been reported to police. We're grateful to every person who has downloaded the app and sent off a flare, we are listening
